How to Record a Google Slides Presentation With Webcam, Face & Audio
Google Slides can play audio, but it cannot record you presenting. If you want a video presentation with your voice over the slides and your face on camera, the simplest route is to export the deck and record it locally in your browser.
1. Export Google Slides as a PDF
In Google Slides, open File → Download → PDF Document (.pdf). Each slide becomes one page, so animations and transitions are flattened. If a build-up matters, duplicate the slide in Google Slides so each stage exports as its own page.
2. Load the PDF into SlideStage
Open the recorder and drop the PDF in. The pages are rendered locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server, so a confidential deck never leaves your device. Images (PNG or JPG) work the same way if your slides are already exported as pictures.
3. Turn on your camera and microphone
Grant camera and mic access when prompted, then position the webcam bubble where it does not cover your content. Recording a Google Slides presentation with face and audio works best when the camera sits near the middle-top of the screen, so your eyes stay close to the lens and it reads as eye contact with the audience.
4. Add an optional script (not recorded)
Paste your talking points into the on-screen teleprompter. It stays visible to you while presenting but is never captured in the video, so you can read naturally while keeping your gaze near the camera. Resize and drag it anywhere on the screen.
5. Record while you click through the slides
Press start, then advance slides with the arrow keys or the on-stage controls. The controls, and the optional teleprompter script, live above the canvas and are never captured in the video — only your slides, voice and camera are recorded. Use pause if you need a moment to collect your thoughts.
6. Download the finished video
Finish the recording and save the file. You get a single WebM video that plays in any modern browser and converts to MP4 in seconds with ffmpeg, VLC or HandBrake — ready to upload as a Google Slides video presentation, a course lesson, or an async update.

Can I record on Google Slides directly? No — Google Slides only supports inserting pre-recorded audio per slide. Screen-and-camera recording has to happen outside of it.
