How to Record a Canva Presentation With Webcam, Face & Audio
Canva makes it easy to build beautiful slides, but it does not record your face while you present. If you want a video that combines your Canva deck, your voice and your webcam, the easiest path is to export the deck and record it locally in your browser.
1. Export Canva as a PDF
In Canva, open your presentation and choose Share → Download → PDF Standard. Make sure each slide is a separate page. Animations and presenter transitions are flattened in the PDF, so duplicate any slides that build up in stages if you want each stage to appear as its own frame.
2. Load the PDF into SlideStage
Open SlideStage and drop the PDF onto the upload area. The pages are rendered locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server. You can also use a folder of exported PNG or JPG images if you prefer.
3. Turn on camera and microphone
Allow camera and microphone access when prompted. Drag the webcam bubble to a corner that keeps your face visible without blocking your design. Recording a Canva presentation with webcam and audio works best when the camera sits near the top of the screen, so your eyes stay close to the lens and you look natural on camera.
4. Add an optional script (not recorded)
Paste your talking points into the teleprompter. It floats on screen for you to read while presenting, but it is never captured in the video. Resize and drag it to a spot that keeps your gaze close to the camera.
5. Record while advancing through slides
Press start, then click through the deck with the arrow keys or the on-stage controls. Only the slide, your voice and your webcam are recorded. The controls and teleprompter stay above the captured area, so pause anytime you need to reset.
6. Download your finished video
Stop the recording and save the file. The result is a single WebM video that plays in any modern browser and converts to MP4 in seconds with ffmpeg, VLC or HandBrake — ready to share as a course, portfolio, or pitch.
Frequently asked questions
Can Canva record my webcam? Canva does not have a built-in recorder that captures your face and slides together. Export to PDF and use SlideStage to get both in one video.
Do animations export? PDFs flatten animations and transitions. Duplicate any animated slides before exporting so each step shows as its own page.
Do I need to install anything? No. The recorder runs entirely in your browser.
What format is the download? WebM, which is easily converted to MP4 if a specific platform needs that format.
